Will Bowden
Sports Turf Consultant, SSDM
Will has over 15 years of academic and practical experience in greenkeeping and agronomy turf management in NZ, the US and UK. Prior to joining the SSDM team Will as employed as the University programme and curriculum manager at one of the UK’s most established primary industry colleges.
As a member of the SSDM team, Will specialises in providing golf course and stadium consultancy to a wide range of clients in New Zealand and overseas. In recent years he has established the SSDM Turf Clinic and Turf Laboratory as leading analytical service resources for the turf industry in New Zealand, providing analysis and independent interpretation to clients in NZ and Oceania. As New Zealand’s only accredited GEO, Will offers golf courses support and applied advice on how to optimise the ecological diversity of their sites. His experience in applied habitat management and habitat restoration of golf courses means he can advise on any related environmental issues regarding natural landscape management. As part of studying for a Bachelor of Applied Science Environment (major) Will is involved in independent research projects that focus upon optimising turfgrass and soil ‘health’ through holistic management practices. Will is a member of the New Zealand Ecological Society and on the Executive board of STANZ.
