Fred Yelverton

Fred Yelverton, PhD, has been a faculty member at North Carolina State University for 32 years. Since 1995, he has been a professor of turfgrass science in the Crop Science department at NCSU. His specialties include turfgrass pest management, turfgrass management, fate and behavior of pesticides, heavy metals, and fertilizers in the environment. His speaking engagements and consulting activities have taken him to many countries on six continents. He has given 159 national and international invited presentations involving turfgrass science since 1995. He holds professional memberships in 12 professional societies. He also teaches two seminars for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (Advanced Weed Management and Event Management and Golf Course Preparation). He has received many awards and recently was recognized as “One of the Ten Most Influential People in the Green Industry”. During his career, he has advised many graduate students. Several are turfgrass faculty at other universities in the US.
