Bevan Houghton
Territory Manager, PGG Wrightson Turf
Bevan Houghton started his involvement in the sports turf industry as a modern day trainee at the Whitford Park Golf Course back in 1997. Moving around courses in Auckland then enabled Bevan to gain experience, up-skill and be involved with new golf course developments. In 2000 Bevan took the role of 2IC at the Peninsular Golf Club and was heavily involved in the construction of the first four holes that used creeping bentgrass and couch grass. After a stint in Australia Bevan came back to Auckland to take the position of Grow-in Superintendent at the Remuera Golf Club and was in charge of developing the first five holes.
Bevan’s first Superintendent position was at Kerikeri Golf Club in 2006. He then moved back to Auckland in 2008 to take up the Superintendents position at the Akarana Golf Club. Bevan has served as a committee member on the Auckland Golf Course Superintendents Association, been an active member of the NZGCSA and is currently employed by PGG Wrightson Turf as a Territory Manager in Auckland servicing the wider Turf Industry. Alongside a genuine passion for turf and the characters that work within the industry, Bevan has a strong interest in the research and development that is constantly evolving and improving turf management.
